About the Role: Director of Private Sector Strategy

We're seeking a seasoned professional to join our team as Director of Private Sector Strategy, a newly created role that will drive the next phase of our strategy to accelerate change in the corporate world and translate it into robust public policy momentum. As a key member of our leadership team, you'll partner with our CEO and COO to develop and execute a multi-year strategy for our private sector work, building on the successes and lessons learned over the past two years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Development: Collaborate with the CEO and COO to craft a comprehensive strategy and KPIs for our private sector work, driving business engagement and public policy change.
  • Corporate Engagement: Build and deepen partnerships with major employers, focusing on implementing employer-sponsored child care benefits and corporate advocacy for public policies that support care infrastructure.
  • Public Policy and Advocacy: Engage corporations as advocates for federal and state-level child care policies, ensuring their voices are influential in shaping legislation that impacts working families.
  • Thought Leadership: Partner with the CEO and communications team to develop targeted messaging, create new narratives, and produce annual reports with external research partners.
  • Partnership Development: Cultivate and expand relationships with key stakeholders in the private sector, including CEOs, HR leaders, CSR professionals, and industry associations.
  • Impact Measurement: Develop metrics to track the success of private sector engagement and care policy investments, contributing to Moms First's overall impact goals.
  • Team Management: Manage, mentor, and coach Moms First's Program Manager, ensuring alignment with organizational values and performance management standards.

Qualifications and Requirements:

The ideal candidate for this role is a seasoned professional with a minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate social impact, government affairs, or advocacy/lobbying. You possess exceptional strategic acumen, charismatic leadership, and compelling storytelling abilities, with a proven track record of developing and executing high-impact strategies in a related field.

Essential qualifications include:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive proposals and presentations.
  • Strong network and reputation within the corporate social impact or advocacy arenas, with the ability to unlock conversations and negotiations with senior stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Experience leading, managing, coaching, and inspiring teams to meet ambitious goals and navigating through change and transformation.
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to the mission of finishing the fight for women's equality.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience working on gender equity or workplace equity issues.
  • Location in the Washington D.C. area, with the ability to travel and be based near a major airport with direct flights to NY, DC, and LA.

  • A salary range of $111,000 - $145,000 per year.
