Job Overview: Energy Auditor I - Virtual Shift

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Energy Auditor I to join our team in a virtual capacity. As an Energy Auditor I, you will play a crucial role in assessing energy usage, identifying opportunities for efficiency, and providing recommendations to optimize energy consumption. Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct virtual walk-through energy assessments of properties to identify key natural gas and electric saving opportunities, promoting behavioral change and energy efficiency.
  • Deliver professional, high-quality, and efficient virtual energy auditing services to utility customers over the phone, text, and/or video chat, building quick rapport and initiating conversations regarding energy usage.
  • Provide thorough education to end-users regarding energy efficiency, clearly explaining and articulating energy assessment findings, including explanations of energy efficiency rebates and answering related questions.
  • Instruct customers on the installation of energy-saving devices, such as lighting, smart thermostats, and hot water saving devices.
  • Compose and deliver audit reports containing the results of the energy analysis and recommendations for improved energy efficiency.
  • Actively identify and recommend ways to improve program operations and delivery, driving improvements in quality, customer satisfaction, and productivity.
  • Accurately complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, and documents, following and complying with all safety and work rules, regulations, and practices.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An Associate degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field, such as residential building construction, heating and air conditioning system installation, sales, or service.
  • One or more of the following certifications or designations: Advanced Home Energy Professional (HEP), Building Analyst, Envelope Professional, Residential Building Envelope Whole House Air Leakage Controller Installer, Heating, Air Conditioning and Heat Pump, or Air sealing and building insulation experience.
  • Two years of previous related work experience, with 1-2 years of experience in marketing, community organizing, education, customer service, or a related field, preferably in a virtual environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact well with customers and coworkers in a virtual environment.
  • Good research and organizational skills, with the ability to explain complicated matters to a variety of individuals in a virtual environment.
  • Technological adeptness, with strong data entry skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • A basic understanding of methods used for technical and cost savings analysis and reporting, energy modeling software, and energy conservation principles and techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BPI Fundamentals or above certification.
  • Experience with energy auditing software and tools.
  • Knowledge of building codes and standards, such as IECC and ASHRAE.
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency programs and incentives, such as rebates and tax credits.
