Job Overview

In this role, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team of engineers, including electrical, mechanical, thermal, and computer network engineers, working together to develop and implement control systems for industrial applications. Key Responsibilities

  • Program controllers, such as Arduino, Allen Bradley, Siemens, GE Vie, or other industrial controllers with HMI interface, using your knowledge of programming languages and software development principles.
  • Work with instrumentation circuits, including thermocouples, pressure transmitters, and other sensing devices, to design and implement control systems.
  • Read and interpret logic diagrams, ladder logic, and other technical documentation to program control logic and troubleshoot issues.
  • Review wiring diagrams for instrumentation installs and collaborate with design engineers to develop control system requirements.
  • Interpret P&ID/Electrical Schematics and apply your knowledge of basic instrumentation to develop and implement control systems.
  • Collaborate with field engineering services to provide technical support and resolve field problems, applying your knowledge of control systems and instrumentation.
  • Provide input to quality assurance on projects, ensuring that control systems meet design specifications and functional requirements.
  • Review and interpret customer specifications on mechanical systems, applying your knowledge of engineering principles and control systems.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong foundation in engineering principles, including mechanical, electrical, and physics. You should have a basic understanding of logic gates, ladder logic, and programming concepts, as well as experience with instrumentation circuits and control systems. A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field is required, and relevant coursework or experience in controls, instrumentation, and programming is highly desirable.

  • Hands-on experience programming controllers, such as GE Mark V, VI, VIe series turbine control and Cimplicity HMI software, or other industry-related controllers.
  • Demonstrated experience working in the industrial controls or power generation industry, with a fundamental understanding of steam turbine and power plant construction.
  • Technical skills in engineering design and construction practices, including proficiency in CAD software and programming languages.
