About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and creative Environmental Communications Analyst to help develop communications plans and materials for federal agencies, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. As an Environmental Communications Analyst, you will play a crucial role in guiding messaging and stakeholder engagement, developing strategic communication plans, and creating compelling communication products on climate change, sustainability, and waste reduction topics.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop strategic communication plans to guide messaging and stakeholder engagement, ensuring that all communications are effective, engaging, and tailored to the target audience.
 - Write Plain Language communication materials, such as brochures, factsheets, infographics, and web copy, for public audiences and hard-to-reach populations, making complex environmental issues accessible and understandable.
 - Collaborate with a team of graphic designers, videographers, and writers/editors to develop compelling, engaging communication products that convey the importance of climate change, sustainability, and waste reduction.
 - Develop and manage social media content and email campaigns, leveraging digital platforms to amplify our message, engage stakeholders, and promote environmental awareness.
 - Plan and implement stakeholder engagement activities, such as workshops and training sessions, including virtual events, to foster collaboration, build partnerships, and drive environmental action.
 - Support partnership programs by managing stakeholder relationships, developing resources, and supporting annual recognition events, ensuring that our partners are equipped to advance environmental sustainability.
 - Research technical issues and prepare written products for target audiences, providing actionable insights and recommendations that inform environmental decision-making.
 
Essential Qualifications
To succeed as an Environmental Communications Analyst, you should possess:
- A Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, communications, or a related field, plus 3 years of relevant experience, or a Master's Degree with 0 years of relevant experience.
 - Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives, distill complex concepts into simple language, and engage diverse audiences.
 - Familiarity with digital communication platforms, including Drupal, social media monitoring, or email marketing, is preferred, as is experience with graphic design, videography, or other visual communication tools.
 - A talent for creative problem-solving, with a keen eye for detail, excellent organization skills, and the ability to manage time effectively while working on multiple, concurrent projects.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is approximately $56,000 - $79,000, depending on candidate geographic location. Abt Global offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
