Key Responsibilities
- Issue, reissue, and discount traveler tickets, as well as book, ticket, and confirm flight reservations
- Rebook travelers on oversold flights and during irregular operations, ensuring minimal disruption to their travel plans
- Perform traveler check-in, front seat assignment, and issue upgrades, providing a personalized experience for our customers
- Issue vouchers and provide direction to travelers for accommodations, meals, and transportation, demonstrating empathy and understanding
- Work gate reader/scanner and related tasks, including pre-boarding, monitoring/checking carry-on items, and gate line management
- Operate jetways/spans for boarding and deplaning travelers, ensuring a smooth and efficient process
- Make boarding and departure gate announcements, providing clear and concise information to travelers
- Accept, check, and label travelers' baggage at destination stations, full-service ticket counters, and priority ticket counters
- Maintain a schedule of flight check-in processes, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively
- Perform client care hands-on training, developing your skills and knowledge to provide exceptional customer service
- Process and complete credit card baggage transactions at stands in the ticket counter area and activation stations
- Assist travelers with self-service stand registration and booth baggage handling at ticket counters, providing support and guidance as needed
- Line queues at ticket counter stands and ticket counters, ensuring a smooth and organized check-in process
- Clear/confirm international documents at booths in the ticket counter area and activation stations, adhering to regulatory requirements
- Accept and activate travelers' self-labeled bags at activation stations, streamlining the baggage handling process
- Assist clients requiring special assistance or in-station support, including boarding, deplaning, and transporting non-mobile travelers, special assistance travelers, or unaccompanied minors
- Perform client assistance work related to handling codeshare flights and contractor/ground handling arrangements or agreements
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance on-site, including fulfilling any mandatory overtime requirements
- Respond and assist during security or emergency situations, demonstrating calm and professional demeanor
- Provide connecting travelers with gate information, ensuring they have the necessary details to continue their journey
- Deliver quality client care in a professional manner and in accordance with American's guidelines, consistently meeting or exceeding customer expectations
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and performance standards, ensuring compliance and accountability
- Complete job-related stages of training, developing your skills and knowledge to excel in your role
- Comply with regulations (e.g., DOT, FAA, TSA), staying up-to-date with industry requirements and standards
- Utilize various internal resources/systems, including during client interactions, to provide efficient and effective support
- Wear attire as expected by company policy, maintaining a professional appearance and adhering to our dress code
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Bilingual language abilities (in certain locations)
- A valid driver's license (as required by local authorities)
- The ability to pass FAA criminal history checks to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA), if applicable
- The ability to obtain proper airport authority and/or US Customs security identifications, if applicable
- Completion of a pre-employment drug screen, comprehensive background check, and/or fingerprinting to meet company and security requirements
- Authorization to work in the US
Preferred Qualifications
To stand out as a candidate, you'll ideally have:
- Working knowledge of Sabre or other Traveler Administration Systems
- Previous face-to-face customer service experience, demonstrating your ability to provide exceptional support and guidance
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment, showcasing your ability to remain calm and composed under pressure
