Remote Sr Crypto Accountant

Remote, USA Full-time Posted 2025-11-02
Job Title: Remote Sr Crypto Accountant Job ID: 1036525 Date Posted: September 16, 2025 Employment Type: Full-time (open to contract-to-hire) Hiring Company (Organization): Confidential Location: US Remote, regular overlap with Puerto Rico / Eastern Time. Base Salary: $90,000+ per year (USD) Commensurate with experience and qualifications. Job Description: Role Summary Run the crypto accounting sub-ledger across multiple entities and wallets/exchanges. Deliver zero-variance reconciliations, map clean summaries into the general ledger (QuickBooks Online), and package clear workpapers for tax and management reporting. You will be the day-to-day expert on crypto data, labeling rules, and exceptions, and you’ll work closely with the Controller to keep the month-end on schedule. What You’ll Do • Sub-ledger operations: Operate the crypto accounting platform end-to-end—connect read-only data feeds, manage wallet/exchange registries, and keep token/chain metadata clean and consistent. • Labeling rules & policy: Build practical rules for swaps/trades, staking rewards, liquidity adds/removes, vesting/claims, bridges/wraps, fees, airdrops, and warrant/option exercises. Maintain a short policy document others can follow. • Reconciliations to zero: Reconcile centralized exchange statements and self-custody wallet balances to the sub-ledger at month-end; drive variances to $0 and document any immaterial differences. • Cost basis & valuation: Configure FIFO or specific-ID, apply a sensible price-source hierarchy, maintain unit roll-forwards, realized gains/losses by asset, and fair-value schedules where required by policy. • Cross-entity tracking: Trace and resolve flows that span entities (intercompany transfers, entity-level allocations, counterparty splits). Ensure due-to/from balances and cross-entity postings agree with the Controller’s map. • Post to the general ledger: Prepare summarized journals to QuickBooks Online with attachments and cross-references; confirm sub-ledger totals tie to the trial balance every month. • Evidence package: Deliver a monthly bundle: reconciliations, unit roll-forwards, realized/unrealized schedules, journal entry list, and a short close checklist. • Exceptions & improvement: Own the exception queue (unknowns, failed matches, protocol quirks). Reduce manual steps each cycle (templates, import automations, refined rules) and keep a simple changelog. Required Qualifications • Crypto sub-ledger expertise: Hands-on command of at least one enterprise-grade platform, such as Cryptio, Bitwave, Cryptoworth, CoinTracking.info, Integral/Tres (or a comparable tool). You have configured connectors, cost-basis, price sources, and GL posting mappings—not just used a prebuilt setup. • Spreadsheets (advanced): Pivot tables; XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH; text/regex functions; cleaning/reshaping large CSVs (100k+ rows) reliably; clear tab naming and versioning habits. • Multi-entity reconciliation: Proven ability to chase transactions across entities and wallets/exchanges, resolve mismatches, and keep intercompany balances aligned. • General ledger posting: Strong QuickBooks Online skills for clean summarized entries and attachments; disciplined tie-outs to the trial balance. • Crypto concepts (practical): Working understanding of DeFi (decentralized finance), staking/yield, swaps/AMMs, gas/fees, and how blockchains, wallets, and smart contracts work—especially Ethereum-style chains (EVM) and Solana. Comfortable using block explorers to trace transactions and explain them in plain language. • Documentation & deadlines: Clear notes, consistent naming, reliable delivery by the close date. Nice to Have • Basic SQL or Python for spot checks and reconciliation scripts. • Experience supporting tax workpapers (income vs. capital, timing/character notes). • Familiarity with custody operations and secure read-only access patterns. • Puerto Rico experience is a plus. Tools You’ll Use • A dedicated crypto accounting sub-ledger (e.g., Cryptio, Bitwave, Cryptoworth, CoinTracking.info, Integral/Tres, or similar) • QuickBooks Online • Spreadsheets (Excel/Sheets) and a simple task tracker • Block explorers for Ethereum-style chains and Solana • Secure document storage for monthly archives Working Style • Precise, organized, and calm under deadlines. • Communicates in plain language; flags exceptions early; leaves a clear paper trail. • Treats crypto as accounting data—everything ties out, every month. 1036525 Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
