Our engineering team is responsible for building and maintaining the Open Connect control plane, which includes:

• Cloud microservices that customers interact with directly when they press 'play'
• Systems for making live streaming work successfully and with resilience
• Services that are critical to making cloud video games work
• Load-balancing algorithms for optimizing hardware utilization

We spend our time trying to answer questions like:

• How do we design our systems to react to failure, internet traffic shifts, and other changes in real-time?
• How do we steer traffic for live shipping over the backbone?
• How can we quality-ensure the most popular content to improve the customer experience?
• What is the gold standard way to pack petabytes of content into our machines to optimize their throughput?
• How should we design our streaming hardware given customer behavior?
• How do we choose the best server for every cloud game session?
