About the Role: Information Specialist - blithequark Strategic Operations BI
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our Strategic Operations BI team as an Information Specialist. This critical role is responsible for designing, building, and operationalizing end-to-end data pipelines that power blithequark's strategic reporting and business intelligence. As a Data Engineer at blithequark, you will collaborate with product owners, engineering teams, and data platform teams to create automated data pipelines that serve as the single source of truth across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and operationalize data pipelines to make data accessible for consumption by blithequark's Strategic Operations BI.
- Collaborate with data architects and data/BI architects to design data pipelines and suggest ongoing optimization of data storage, ingestion, quality, and integration.
- Plan, develop, and implement ETL/ELT processes using IICS (Informatica Cloud) to drive efficient data management.
- Utilize MySQL and Azure services such as Azure SQL DW (Synapse), ADLS, Azure Event Hub, Azure Data Factory to enhance and accelerate the delivery of data products and services.
- Implement big data and NoSQL solutions by developing scalable data processing platforms to drive high-value insights for the organization.
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements, including automating manual processes and optimizing data delivery.
- Recognize opportunities to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality of data management.
- Communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences through both written and verbal means.
- Perform peer reviews for other data engineers' work to ensure quality and adherence to best practices.
Essential Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience designing and operationalizing data pipelines with large and complex datasets.
- 2+ years of experience with Informatica PowerCenter and Informatica IICS.
- 2+ years of experience working with Cloud technologies such as ADLS, Azure Databricks, Spark, Azure Synapse, Cosmos DB, and other big data technologies.
- 2+ years of experience in Data Modeling, ETL, and Data Warehousing.
- 2+ years of experience implementing data integration techniques such as event/message-based integration (Kafka, Azure Event Hub), ETL.
- 2+ years of experience with Git/Azure DevOps.
- Broad experience working with various data sources, including SQL, SQL Server database, flat files (csv, delimited), Web API, XML.
- Advanced SQL skills, including comprehension of relational databases, business intelligence, and the ability to write complex SQL queries against different data sources.
- Solid understanding of database capacity concepts, including Data Lake, Relational Databases, NoSQL, Graph, Data Warehousing.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced agile development environment.
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent programming/services experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft Azure or equivalent certifications.
- Experience delivering data solutions through agile software development methodologies.
- Experience with PowerShell, Python, or similar scripting languages.
- Experience with UC4 Job Scheduler.
- Familiarity with the retail industry.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
