Job Summary

The Patient Care Pharmacist will be responsible for providing timely, accurate, and cost-effective pharmaceutical care within the scope of the Ohio Pharmacist Practice Act. This role involves coordinating medication preparation, distribution, and dispensing, as well as collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimize drug therapy and ensure patient safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the preparation, distribution, and dispensing of medication in compliance with state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintains personal and departmental compliance with continuous regulatory readiness and manages records related to pharmacy transactions.
  • Assists in managing pharmacy inventory, including removing expired or deteriorated stock, maintaining perpetual inventories, and processing non-formulary requests.
  • Interprets, evaluates, and verifies medication orders to ensure accuracy and safety.
  • Collaborates with healthcare teams to optimize drug therapy, including adjusting dosing and schedules, recommending efficacious therapy, and detecting potential adverse reactions and interactions.
  • Demonstrates effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to delegate tasks and provide direction to pharmacy team members.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor or Doctor of Pharmacy degree required.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current licensure to practice as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Ohio.
  • Experience: PGY1 residency or three years of institutional pharmacy experience in an advanced clinical setting is preferred.
  • Effective Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with healthcare teams and patients.
  • Leadership and Organizational Skills: Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage pharmaceutical care, including delegating tasks and providing direction to team members.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

In addition to the minimum qualifications, we prefer candidates with:

  • Advanced clinical experience in a hospital setting.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations, including inventory management and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
