Job Summary
We're looking for a highly skilled and experienced Construction and Automotive Basics Teacher to join our team. As a Construction and Automotive Basics Teacher, you'll be responsible for teaching high school students the fundamental skills and knowledge required to succeed in the construction and automotive industries. You'll develop and implement engaging lesson plans, assess student progress, and provide individualized support to ensure our students meet their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and teach comprehensive lesson plans that align with state and national standards for construction and automotive education
- Create a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement and motivation
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to help students improve their skills and knowledge
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including hands-on projects and simulations, to cater to different learning styles
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate with parents, administrators, and other stakeholders as needed
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments and incorporate relevant topics into your teaching
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum improvements and best practices
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching skills and knowledge
Qualifications and Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for the subject and level assigned (Option 1)
- Associate's degree or higher from an accredited institution, combined with two years of full-time wage-earning experience in an approved occupation (Option 2)
- High school diploma or equivalent, combined with five years of full-time wage-earning experience in an approved occupation (Option 3)
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in safety, handling, and proper use of commercial and non-commercial power tools
- Ability to effectively communicate and work with students, peers, parents, administrators, and business partners
Preferred Qualifications
- Meet NCCER Craft Instructor Requirements (one of the options listed below)
- Work experience at a minimum journey level or licensed technician level (at least 4 years) in a Construction related field
- A minimum of 3 years of teaching construction or other maintenance-related training
- Previous experience teaching high school students
- Knowledge of the objectives and TEKS of courses in the program
