Key Responsibilities

• Manage the agricultural science program for the assigned campus, ensuring that students receive a comprehensive education in agricultural science and technology.
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of students, incorporating a range of instructional strategies and technologies.
• Oversee the Supervised Agricultural Experience Program (SAEP), guiding students in selecting and managing projects that foster hands-on learning and real-world experience.
• Serve as advisor to the local Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter, planning and conducting leadership, citizenship, and career development activities that promote student growth and achievement.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Assess student learning and progress, using a range of formal and informal evaluation methods to inform instruction and drive student achievement.
• Foster strong relationships with parents, colleagues, and the broader community, promoting a culture of collaboration and mutual support.
• Participate in staff development activities, staying up-to-date with best practices in agricultural education and contributing to the ongoing improvement of our programs.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a relevant field.
• A valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training in agricultural science.
• Demonstrated competency in agricultural science and technology.
• Strong knowledge of curriculum and instruction, with the ability to design and deliver engaging lesson plans.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
• The ability to manage student behavior and create a positive classroom environment.
• Experience with budget management and inventory control.

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

• Previous experience as a CTE Agricultural Science Teacher or in a related role.
• A background in floral design and Principles of AFNR.
• Experience with SAEP and FFA programs.
• Strong technical skills, including proficiency in educational software and technology.
