About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Special Education Substitute Teacher to join our team in Commerce City, CO. As a SpEd Substitute Teacher, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students with special needs. You will be responsible for teaching lesson plans provided by the regular teacher, instructing based on subject and grade-specific curriculum, and monitoring and assessing student achievements and outcomes. Key Responsibilities

  • Follow and teach lesson plans provided by the regular teacher

  • Share your specialized knowledge to coach staff and support special education students

Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have an active Teaching license with a special education generalist (5-21) and/or special education specialist (5-21) endorsement(s). You must also have a Substitute Authorization (or be in the process of obtaining one if your license is expired). Additionally, you will need to provide three professional references, with at least one from a previous direct supervisor. A background check for Scoot Education and the Colorado Department of Education is also required.

Essential Qualifications

  • Active Teaching license with a special education generalist (5-21) and/or special education specialist (5-21) endorsement(s)
  • Substitute Authorization (or in the process of obtaining one if license is expired)
  • Three professional references, with at least one from a previous direct supervisor
  • Background check for Scoot Education and the Colorado Department of Education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with students with special needs
  • Knowledge of Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) and Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs)
  • Experience with behavior intervention plans and positive behavior supports
  • Excellent classroom management and behavior management skills

You must also be able to adapt to new situations and be flexible in your approach. Additionally, you will need to have a strong understanding of special education principles and practices, as well as the ability to implement lesson plans and assess student progress.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary and a range of benefits to our substitutes. You will be paid weekly, and you can earn up to $273 for day-to-day assignments and more for long-term assignments. We also offer a $0 onboarding cost, which means that you will not have to pay for any expenses related to state background checks. Additionally, you will be eligible for a $100 gift card for every friend you refer to sub with Scoot Education after they work 10 shifts.
