About the Role: SpEd Substitute Teacher
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Special Education Substitute Teacher to join our dynamic team in Golden, CO. Key Responsibilities:
- Follow and teach lesson plans provided by the regular teacher, adapting to the needs of students with special needs
 - Instruct based on subject and grade-specific curriculum, using a range of teaching strategies to engage students
 - Monitor and assess student achievements and outcomes, providing feedback and support to students and teachers
 - Exercise classroom and behavior management skills, creating a safe and inclusive learning environment
 - Share your specialized knowledge to coach staff and support special education students, contributing to the development of individualized educational plans
 
Essential Qualifications:
- Active Teaching license with a special education generalist (5-21) and/or special education specialist (5-21) endorsement(s)
 - Substitute Authorization (must have or be in the process of obtaining if license is expired)
 - Three References with one by a previous direct supervisor
 - Complete a Background Check for Scoot Education (you'll be reimbursed for the cost on your first paycheck)
 - Complete a Background Check for the Colorado Department of Education (to receive your Substitute Authorization; you will not be reimbursed for the cost)
 
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with students with special needs, including autism, mild moderate, severe, and multi-intensive
 - Knowledge of individualized educational plans, functional behavior assessments, and behavior intervention plans
 - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students
 - Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities, with a flexible and positive attitude
