Job Overview

The World Language and Multilingual Coordinator will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating our World Language Program (Grades K-12) and Multilingual/EL supports. As a key member of our instructional team, you will work closely with the Director of Teaching and Learning, Principals, and department faculty to drive pedagogical innovation, curriculum development, and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement, evaluate, and revise the World Language Program (Grades K-12) and Multilingual/EL supports in partnership with the Director of Teaching and Learning, Principals, and department faculty
  • Engage in the RSD 10 Instructional Coaching model to support pedagogical best practices within the department
  • Participate in regular leadership and decision-making with the Director of Teaching and Learning, building administrators, and fellow content-area Coordinators to advance district-wide goals
  • Instruct no more than two class sections in accordance with the Coordinator contract of RSD 10
  • Conduct department meetings/PLCs focused on student growth, building teacher capacity, data analysis, and embedded cultural understandings of world languages
  • Discern ongoing curricular, instructional, and pedagogical needs at all three levels (elementary, middle, high)
  • Assist in analyzing data and student performance as an element of continuous improvement efforts
  • Participate in the hiring and support of new staff under the direction of building principals
  • Prepare K-12 budgets for the discipline, develop inventory control, and monitor materials/supplies as part of budgeting
  • Design and deliver professional learning opportunities in the discipline as a component of Coordinator leadership
  • Remain current with the latest CT standards, programs, materials, and methods used in the instruction of World Language through professional literature and attendance at professional meetings
  • Share new learning with faculty and participate in developing state/local reports in the assigned subject area as necessary

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this exceptional opportunity, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

  • CT Certificates 111 Endorsement 092 – Intermediate Administration or Supervision preferred, but not required
  • Endorsement 018 – French, Grades 7-12 highly desirable, Endorsement 023 – Spanish, Grades 7-12 desirable
  • A minimum of 5 years demonstrated success as a classroom teacher in the subject area
  • Demonstrated skills in leading professional learning at all levels, written communications, and presentations to professional colleagues and community stakeholders
  • Experience with curriculum review and revision aligned with ACTFL Guiding Principles
  • Proven communication, systems thinking, and leadership ability

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Experience with appropriate content technology integration and mastery-based learning
  • Demonstrated experience with instructional coaching models
  • Knowledge of current best practices in World Language pedagogy and language acquisition for English Language Learners
