Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver competency-based online instruction, providing theory and practice education to students in the Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health program
  • Instruct and facilitate a meaningful learning experience, ensuring that learning objectives are met through effective methods and e-learning modalities
  • Collaborate with counseling program leads to offer recommendations on curriculum-related matters and stimulate class discussions to foster an online culture of learning
  • Administer and grade student assessments, providing substantive, holistic feedback to support student learning and development
  • Demonstrate effective written communication skills and maintain a professional and respectful tone in communications with students in the e-learning environment
  • Support student learning through multiple delivery methods, including phone calls and emails, and provide 24-hour turnaround responses to student questions and concerns

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:

  • Maintain an active license in the field of counseling
  • Maintain an active membership to a recognized professional counseling association (American School Counseling Association, ASCA preferred)
  • Show evidence of advocacy/professional service, research, or scholarly activities in counseling
  • Have outstanding communication skills and the ability to successfully adapt to an e-learning environment
  • Be willing to work in an accelerated learning format and work in an e-learning environment with students on a daily basis
  • Role model the University's Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission of Grand Canyon University

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program
  • Experience conducting research or scholarly related activities in counseling
  • At least one academic year of experience as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program before July 1, 2013
