Job Overview

The Part-Time Special Programs Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the Early College Career Pathways program, working closely with students, faculty, and staff to facilitate access to higher education and ensure the successful accomplishment of student goals. This position is grant-funded and offers a competitive salary of $32 per hour for 18 hours of work per week. The ideal candidate will be committed to creating and promoting resources that support student achievement, with a particular focus on empowering first-generation, low-income students and fostering a sense of community and belonging among all students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the work of the Early College Program, including outreach, advisement, planning, and carrying out student-and-family engagement events and college awareness activities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with College offices, community-based organizations, and school districts to support students' career and academic advising needs.
  • Communicate with students at high school and through social media to encourage and support progress.
  • Collaborate with support services staff at the college, such as Tutoring, Accessibility Services, Advising, and Enrollment Services.
  • Assist in developing and providing information about colleges, admissions requirements, financial aid, and career information to students and their families.
  • Prepare and lead orientations and program-related workshops at Saugus High School and NSCC campuses.
  • Maintain confidential data and abide by all laws and policies that govern student privacy.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to students, faculty, and staff of varying racial, ethnic, religious, gender, cultural, disability, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess an earned Bachelor's degree in a field such as education, counseling, social work, sociology, or psychology. Current enrollment or graduation from a post-baccalaureate degree in any of these fields or higher education will also be considered. A Master's degree is preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience providing direct support to diverse student populations, preferably in a community college and/or High School setting, and a strong commitment to diversity and social justice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education in an urban setting.
  • Experience working with virtual and hybrid educational technologies.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Local candidates are preferable as on-campus activities will be required.
  • Ability to travel between campuses and off-site locations as needed.
