Job Summary
The Lead Healthcare Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of new capabilities via the management and delivery of cross-functional, large-scale, and complex programs in the healthcare industry. These programs are frequently multi-year, with the highest complexity, risk, and/or cost to the organization. Implementation involves multiple business areas, IT, and external constituents, including partners, vendors, and/or government agencies. This position works under the direction of the Director, Corporate Program Management Office (CPMO) and supports and advocates project management principles and methodologies within the organization.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions
The following are the key responsibilities of the Lead Healthcare Project Manager:
- Program Management:
- Manages all phases of the program management lifecycle, including scope, schedules, risks, issues, and resource tracking for both Agile and waterfall programs.
 - Evaluates the cost and feasibility of multiple options/alternatives to resolve program issues and makes recommendations on those issues that best meet both program and corporate objectives.
 - Develops and manages program budgets and financial plans to ensure delivery within allocated funding.
 - Provides oversight and management of project/program managers and cross-functional programs, processes, and workflows.
 
 - Team and Stakeholder Management:
- Organizes teams across business and technology; develops relationships and communicates with all levels from individual contributors to executive leadership.
 - Facilitates and mediates between people and teams, navigating political issues using advanced organizational knowledge.
 - Coaches and mentors less experienced project managers and effectively leads in a matrixed environment.
 
 - Strategic Analysis/Risk Mitigation:
- Incorporates the corporate strategic direction, defining the impact of tasks/events on not only business and IT but the organization as a whole.
 - Proactively identifies conflict/integration issues and leads team members to parse/synthesize issues of the highest complexity.
 - Identifies and mitigates risks, removing obstacles by anticipating challenges ahead and preparing to take them on.
 
 
Requirements and Qualifications
The following are the essential qualifications and requirements for the Lead Healthcare Project Manager:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field; Master's degree preferred.
 
 - Certifications:
- PMP and Agile eligible/certified preferred.
 
 - Experience:
- 10 or more years of business or industry experience, with 8+ years of program management experience, including leading cross-functional high-level initiatives.
 - Significant business process and project management experience related to the implementation of healthcare insurance business applications and products.
 
 - Skills:
- Outstanding communication and relationship management skills.
 - Strong negotiating, influencing, and advocacy skills.
 - Ability to thrive in a matrix-management, hands-on environment.
 - Highly developed oral and written communication skills.
 - Excellent human resource management skills.
