Job Summary

As an AmeriCorps Program Coordinator with Reading Partners in Seattle, you will be the face of our organization in elementary schools, responsible for leading the coordination, operations, and relationship development of our one-on-one tutoring programs. You will work closely with students, families, tutors, and school staff to create a welcoming tutoring environment that fosters academic success and social growth. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the full-time coordination and operations of Reading Partners' tutoring programs at a school partner, ensuring seamless program implementation and meeting students' learning needs.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations and schedule of Reading Partners' tutoring programs, including managing tutor schedules, student data records, and tracking student progress.
  • Provide ongoing tutoring to students, as needed, and support tutors with technical assistance and guidance.
  • Forge and maintain positive relationships with students, families, tutors, and school staff to create a welcoming tutoring environment that promotes academic success and social growth.
  • Lead family, student, and volunteer engagement support within your reading center, developing strategies to motivate students and encourage volunteer participation.
  • Guide, coach, and provide feedback and ongoing support to volunteer tutors, helping them develop their skills and confidence.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should:

  • Possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or U.S. national.
  • Not have completed more than three (3) prior AmeriCorps or VISTA service terms.
  • Be committed to serving a full term of service (1,200+ hours) from October 2023 through June 2024.
  • Pay strong attention to detail and manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Be open to learning technology systems like Salesforce, Google Apps, and Zoom Conferencing.

Bonus points if you:

  • Are an AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, or other national service alum/alumna.
  • Have experience volunteering with community-based or education programs.

What We Offer

Reading Partners is committed to your growth and development. As an AmeriCorps Program Coordinator, you will have access to:

  • A living allowance of $18,060.16 (paid twice per month, on the 7th and 22nd).
  • An education award of $4,826.50 after successfully completing your service term.
  • A mid-year bonus of $375 and an end-of-year bonus of $2,500.
