The College of St. Scholastica is excited to collaborate with Duluth Public Schools to provide high-quality virtual tutoring to K-12 students. As a Student Tutor, you will play a vital role in this exclusive partnership, utilizing your skills and expertise to make a positive impact on the academic journey of young learners.
About the Opportunity
This hybrid role offers the flexibility to balance your time between our remote office and home, allowing you to work in a setting that suits your needs. As a Student Tutor, you will have the opportunity to engage with K-12 students, providing personalized support in various subject areas, including Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Spanish, Ojibwe, and Music.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide online tutoring in at least one area of the K-12 curriculum
 - Complete a short paid training (2-3 hours) in Brightspace before working with K-12 students
 - Use the Setmore application to make tutoring times available for students to book appointments
 - Conduct 50-minute tutoring sessions during the booked time, tailoring your support to the student's needs
 - Complete a tutor log after each session to track progress and reflect on your experience
 - Communicate with students and parents in a professional and ethical manner, ensuring a positive and supportive learning environment
 
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must:
- Be a current, full-time student at The College of St. Scholastica
 - Possess expertise in at least one area of the K-12 curriculum
 - Demonstrate excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with K-12 students
 - Be familiar with effective online teaching and learning strategies
 - Show excellent time management and professionalism, including punctuality and effective communication with stakeholders
 
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are highly valued:
- Experience working with K-12 students, either through tutoring or other educational settings
