Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and dedicated professional to join our team as a Child and Youth Program Assistant Leader. As a leader in our program, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our child and youth programs, ensuring the safety and well-being of our participants, and providing guidance and support to our staff. You will work closely with our team to plan, coordinate, and implement activities that meet the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of our participants, and you will be responsible for maintaining accurate records and reports, as well as ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a team leader for program staff, providing guidance, support, and supervision to ensure the successful operation of our child and youth programs
 - Oversee the arrival and departure of children and youth, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
 - Supervise children and youth ranging in age from 6 weeks to 18 years, providing care and support during daily activities, field trips, outings, and special events
 - Plan, coordinate, and implement activities that meet the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of our participants, including those with special requirements
 - Work with our trainer and supervisor to implement activities and special events that promote positive child and youth interactions and development
 - Maintain accurate records and reports, including program participation data, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and policies
 - Provide input to our supervisor concerning promotions, reassignments, performance appraisals, and incentive awards, as well as participate in conferences with parents, program staff, and other representatives
 - Ensure that our program achieves and maintains standards for DoD certification and national accreditation, and that all staff members follow safety, fire, fitness, health, and nutrition procedures
 
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following essential qualifications:
- Be at least 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma (or equivalent)
 - Speak, read, and write English fluently
 - Meet specific physical requirements, including the ability to lift 40 pounds or more and stand for long periods of time
 - Pass a physical examination and have required immunizations
 - Obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and satisfactorily complete installation, state, and national criminal background checks
 - Possess maturity and good judgment, and enjoy working with children and youth and their parents
 
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are highly preferred:
- An Associate of Arts degree in early childhood education, youth development, or a related field, or a Child Development Associate credential or a Youth Development credential
 - One year of experience at the CY-02 (Target Level) or equivalent
 - A valid driver's license and a good driving record, if required to transport children
