Job Summary and Key Responsibilities

The Graduate Assistant - Men's Basketball position is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience for individuals interested in pursuing a career in coaching or college athletics. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing relationships with coaching staff and team members to assist with team operations
  • Assisting the head coach in planning and running team training sessions
  • Recording and reviewing games and practices
  • Assisting with scouting reports and recruiting efforts
  • Coordinating travel planning and scheduling
  • Providing mentoring, tutoring, or other assistance to athletes as needed
  • Conducting oneself in a professional and ethical manner at all times
  • Developing and demonstrating a working knowledge of NCAA compliance rules
  • Completing all University-required trainings, including FERPA and Title IX

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Have completed a bachelor's degree
  • Be accepted and enrolled full-time (at least six credit hours per semester) in a master's degree program (M.S.E. Organizational Leadership preferred) during the academic year
  • Have previous experience in a college athletic setting
  • Possess a genuine interest in and willingness to work with students, understanding their attitudes, concerns, and problems
  • Have strong organizational and computer skills
  • Be able to exercise basic human relations skills in directing and motivating staff, and dealing with varied constituencies on and off campus

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

While not required, the following qualifications and skills are preferred:

  • Experience with social media, video, and photo editing
  • AED and/or CPR training
  • Previous experience in a coaching or athletic administration role
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
