Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Title 1 Teacher (.5 FTE) at Kalamazoo Resa, you will play a vital role in designing and implementing intervention programs that cater to the unique needs of our students. Your primary objective will be to create personalized educational plans, determine flexible scheduling for supplemental intervention groups, and coordinate activities with Title I paraprofessionals. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records, attending meetings, and participating in professional development activities to stay updated on best practices and research-based programs.
- Prepare educational plans for students and groups of students based on individually assessed needs, using evidence-based research and best practices.
- Determine and maintain a flexible schedule for supplemental intervention groups to ensure maximum student engagement and progress.
- Coordinate and direct the activities of Title I paraprofessionals to ensure a cohesive and effective support system for students.
- Maintain and submit accurate data, records, and reports for students receiving supplemental interventions, ensuring compliance with federal law and district practices.
- Attend and participate in meetings for students receiving supplemental interventions, collaborating with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive support system.
- Participate in continuing professional development activities, including the development and maintenance of skills on research-based supplemental intervention programs, such as Direct Instruction and Read Well programs.
- Develop and maintain effective communication and ongoing relationships with parents of students receiving supplemental interventions, ensuring they are informed and involved in their child's education.
- Ensure that student progress is assessed and data is analyzed on a regular basis, using this information to inform instruction and make data-driven decisions.
- Share student progress data with each student's general education teacher and parent on at least a quarterly basis, promoting transparency and collaboration.
- Work with general education staff to coordinate the supplementary intervention system, ensuring a seamless and supportive learning environment for all students.
- Collaborate with general education staff to accomplish ongoing program evaluation, ensuring the supplementary intervention system is effective and making adjustments as needed.
- Work with the school psychologist as needed to accomplish more in-depth diagnostic evaluations, determining appropriate programming for students and providing targeted support.
Essential and Preferred Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a combination of education, experience, and skills that align with our institution's values and mission. The essential qualifications for this position include:
- Bachelor's degree in elementary education or a related field.
- Valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate.
- Minimum of three years of experience in education, including coordination of supplementary intervention programming.
- Knowledge of current education research and best practices, with a willingness to stay updated on the latest developments in the field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with district staff, parents, and the public.
- Proficient computer and document skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and submit reports in a timely manner.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Master's degree in reading or a related field.
- Experience working with Title I programs and supplementary intervention systems.
- Knowledge of research-based programs, such as Direct Instruction and Read Well.
