The Role: Enablement Apps Platform and Reliability

The Client and Partner Technology team at Netflix drives the delivery of exceptional experiences to consumers worldwide by collaborating with partners globally. Our scope encompasses device integrations, payment systems, games, and more. Specifically, we focus on enabling device integrations with SoC vendors, OEMs, and ODMs on TVs and set-top boxes, partnering with service providers and network operators for payment reconciliations, and working with game developers to bring Netflix games to AppStores and Play Stores.

The success of our partners directly influences our mission. The Enablement Apps Platform and Reliability team employs a data-driven approach to measure and enhance the reliability of our systems. By proactively developing tools and systems that eliminate friction and systematically integrating them into the platforms we build, we provide significant efficiency gains to our partners.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to lead initiatives in creating solutions that address the needs of internal and external partner engineers. As a key member of the Enablement Apps Platform and Reliability team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability of the tools and services you develop. Your tools and systems will have a wide reach, including testing device and payment integrations, directory APIs, and more.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer technical support for our suite of applications and tooling to internal partner developers, engineers, and external partners.
  • Drive reliability initiatives across the Enablement Apps association.
  • Lead the development of new technical solutions across teams, working in a multi-disciplinary way from requirements to application deployment.
  • Collaborate effectively with product managers and our design team to scope and shape product decisions.
  • Revamp and refresh existing web applications with new streamlined solutions.
  • Improve and maintain existing applications to address the needs of our partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Work in a cross-functional dynamic environment where you will collaborate and learn from exceptional partners with various roles and expertise.

What We Are Looking For

Essential Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a software development role.
  • Proficiency in developing software applications and designing APIs in Object-Oriented languages (notably Java) and knowledge of Python, React, JavaScript, and Node.js.
  • Familiarity with social and non-social data stores.
  • Proven ability to work with and troubleshoot complex systems developed with microservice architecture.
  • Experience maintaining and improving legacy systems, with the ability to assess and address tradeoffs concerning refactor versus remake versus buy.
  • Capacity to learn and utilize in-house software frameworks/components/services to effectively build solutions.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with a proactive, patient, inquisitive, adaptable, and selfless attitude.
  • Willingness to work proactively with local regional teams and partners.
  • Ability to work effectively non-concurrently with remote teams across multiple time zones.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with UI frameworks and their principles.
  • Familiarity with React, GraphQL, gRPC.
  • Strong programming skills in JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Experience with alert monitoring, tuning, and improving service observability.
  • Experience utilizing data to provide insights with tools like Grafana, Kibana, or Tableau.
  • Episode handling experience, with the ability to understand and identify impact areas during outages.
  • Experience with Slack Bot development to improve the team's outage experiences.
  • Familiarity with modern web UI end-to-end (E2E) testing frameworks, such as Writer/Cypress.
