We teach English and the world. The Editorial Assistant is part of the English Language Teaching (ELT) team within National Geographic Learning. This position supports the Publisher and team with administrative duties including maintaining calendars, managing contracts and permissions, managing databases, processing invoices and managing schedules and items for production. What you'll do here: • Assists the publishing team with administrative duties, inputting/retrieving data into systems & assists with editorial projects • Assists in preparing writer and freelance development contracts and enters information into the rights management database • Obtains text permissions and enters information into the rights management database • Maintains author, freelancer and reviewer databases • Processes invoices and check requisitions • Assists editors and team members in communicating with authors, internal and external customers and team members in remote and home offices • Assists with preparing art and text manuscripts for production, and generally overseeing schedules • Maintains departmental calendar and itineraries • Takes initiative on the completion of tasks as assigned • Performs other duties as needed to meet department goals Skills/Knowledge/Experience: • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills • Excellent written and verbal communications skills • Attention to detail • Flexibility • Strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint • ESL/ELT teaching experience preferred • Some textbook publishing experience preferred • B.S. or B.A. degree or equivalent experience preferred Cengage Group is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
