• Advanced Radiology, P.A. (AR) is a large 100% physician owned and managed radiology practice and most members are partners. AR is the leading provider of imaging services in Maryland, located predominately in the Baltimore suburbs. AR incorporated in 2004 with 27 radiologist partners and now has grown to more than 100 BC/BE radiologists, most with subspecialty expertise. The practice has a long-term business partnership with RadNet, a leading national provider of outpatient imaging services and a publicly traded company. We have no association with private equity. The practice is ethnically diverse and is 60% male and 40% female. As a private practice group, we work to maximize physician efficiencies as the savings accrue to the radiologists, not an employer.
• The practice holds exclusive radiology services agreements at 4 suburban Baltimore hospitals. The practice is also the exclusive provider of professional imaging services at 32 outpatient imaging centers and growing, through our long-term business partnership with RadNet. AR provides services in Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Carroll, Harford and Howard Counties, and Baltimore City.
• Partners work 185 to 190 weekday shifts and 8 to 9 weekend shifts per year. The limited number of weekend shifts is an industry low. Weekday shifts are a combination of on-site and remote (home). There is often an opportunity to over or underweight evening shifts which can all be covered from home. Partners have 13 weeks equivalent off, a combination of vacation weeks and days off. All partners are equal shareholders (owners) of the practice with the same compensation packages.
• Partnership track is 3-years. AR has an internal mentorship program and a gradual ramping up of workload to ensure our new hires are successful in transitioning into private practice. Partnership track radiologists have 11, 12 and 12 weeks off, through a combination of vacation and days in years 1,2 and 3 respectively. Internal moonlighting opportunities exist. Based on feedback from AR members we are in the process of making changes to improve internal moonlighting opportunities which include both weekday evenings and weekends. Non-partnership tracks are available.
• Daytime work and weekend call responsibilities are shared equitably among AR members. Radiologist workload is at approximately the 60th percentile national average. Weekday volumes averages 68-70 CMS wRVUs. AR uses its own internal Advanced Radiology wRVUs to more properly value studies in terms of time to complete study. Physician handlers in the centers and off-site radiologist support team assist in managing STAT and critical results reporting.
• Radiologists are provided a home workstation system which is built and supported by our IT Department. These are the same workstations we deploy in the imaging centers.
• AR’s compensation package (salary and benefits) is among the highest in Maryland. AR partners/partnership track enjoy the most comprehensive benefits package available including malpractice, health, pharmacy, dental, group disability , and group life insurance. Vision coverage available at a nominal cost. Retirement contributions are fully funded to legal limits for the partners/partnership track by the company with eligibility after 1 year, and a vesting schedule.
• AR prides itself on its egalitarian and altruistic culture. Every AR member’s input is valued, and we all assume responsibility for ensuring the quality and profitability of the practice. AR members are encouraged to participate on both the clinical and administrative committees that run our practice. Due to combined efforts on the part of our members, we have increased our partnership income incrementally almost every year since inception in 2004.
