DescriptionThe California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking a Student Assistant in the Facilities Branch. This position will be responsible for drafting plans for internal configurations, including modular system furniture (MSF) design and plan management for MSF in AutoCAD. Responsibilities will also include reviewing floor and/or site plans and completing changes as necessary to reflect actual conditions as well as providing project support for project managers and/or architect positions. The position is a hybrid work schedule that includes reporting to DMV headquarters in Sacramento.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentThis is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. The final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor. A hybrid schedule will be available after training, DMV headquarters in Sacramento.Additional Work ScheduleStudent Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 24 hours per workweek (Sunday - Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring, and summer).Compensation$16.50 - $21.15 per hourMinimum QualificationsAbility to work cooperatively with technical and non-technical personnel. Research skills with the ability to reach conclusions and summarize findings. Maintain consistent and regular attendance. Close attention to detail. Ability to take direction as well as initiative to follow through and complete assignments independently. Preferred QualificationsStudent should have taken or be taking Architectural, Design, or Interior Design courses, no minimum number of courses are required to be considered and no required experience. Preferred experience and/or interest which includes a basic comprehension of architecture, design, interior design, and space planning. Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and knowledge of office productivity software (MS Office). Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform Master Plan management in AutoCAD. Plan review/comment, occupancy load review, calculations, and verifications. Participate in project meetings (construction, design, etc.). Draft plans for internal configurations, including modular systems furniture (MSF) design. Plan management for MSF in AutoCAD. Manage MSF inventories and databases for components, parts, etc. Coordinate, facilitate, and manage MSF warranty and non-warranty repair services. Physical RequirementsSit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.Working ConditionsWork is performed in a hybrid office environment.Students/Employees will be required to work according to the current UEI remote workplace policy and sign a UEI Work from Home Agreement.
