Overview
The Warehouse and Inventory Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the warehouse and managing inventory levels to ensure smooth production and distribution. You will manage incoming and outgoing shipments, maintain accurate inventory records, and ensure the warehouse operates in an efficient and organized manner. The ideal candidate will have experience in warehouse operations, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work well with cross-functional teams.
Job Duties
1. Warehouse Operations Management:
- Oversee day-to-day warehouse activities, including receiving, storing, and shipping goods.
 - Supervise loading and unloading of shipments, ensuring accuracy in order fulfillment and inventory movement.
 - Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
 - Ensure the proper handling and storage of all inventory, particularly food products, following food safety standards.
 
2. Inventory Management:
- Manage and track inventory levels, ensuring stock accuracy through regular cycle counts and physical audits.
 - Monitor stock levels and collaborate with the purchasing team to reorder items as necessary to avoid shortages or overstock situations.
 - Maintain an accurate record of all incoming and outgoing inventory using the company’s inventory management system.
 - Prepare and update inventory reports for the management team, identifying discrepancies and making recommendations for improvements.
 
3. Shipping and Logistics:
- Coordinate all incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of goods to customers and receiving products from suppliers.
 - Liaise with logistics companies to ensure efficient transportation of goods and handle any shipment issues that arise.
 - Maintain records of shipments, including bills of lading, shipping invoices, and customs documentation for imported goods.
 
4. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
- Work closely with the sales team to prioritize shipments and meet customer demands.
 - Collaborate with the purchasing and production teams to align inventory levels with production schedules and sales forecasts.
 - Communicate with the accounting team to ensure accurate invoicing and timely payment for received goods.
 
5. Warehouse Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure that all warehouse operations comply with company policies and safety regulations.
 - Conduct regular inspections to maintain safety standards and ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene protocols.
 - Train and supervise warehouse staff on safety procedures and best practices to minimize risk and ensure an efficient work environment.
 
6. Technology & Reporting:
- Use warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory and improve efficiency.
 - Prepare and present regular reports on warehouse performance, stock levels, and productivity.
 - Recommend process improvements, automation, and cost-saving initiatives.
 
Qualification:
1. Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Warehouse Management, or a related field is an asset.
 - Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in warehouse management or inventory control, preferably in the food industry.
 - Experience with inventory management systems and familiarity with warehouse management software.
 
2. Technical skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
 - Knowledge of warehouse management systems and inventory control software.
 - Familiarity with food safety regulations and health & safety standards in a warehouse setting.
 
3. Soft skills and competencies:
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multitask.
 - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal teams and external vendors.
 - Attention to detail and a proactive approach to managing inventory and operations.
 - Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and work in a physically demanding environment.
 - Forklift certification is an asset.
