About the Role

As an Operations Engineer at Amazon, you'll be responsible for leading and managing the lifecycle of complex cross-functional projects that span organizations and geographies. You'll work closely with internal customers, stakeholders, and external vendors to design, develop, and deliver cutting-edge sortation and distribution solutions that meet our high standards for quality, safety, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the lifecycle of challenging cross-functional projects, acting as the owner to deliver on project objectives and targets.
  • Participate in firm engineering reviews, making a tangible impact on proposed solutions, overall systems architecture, and facility processes.
  • Partner with internal teams, stakeholders, and external vendors to set project priorities, establish milestones, and drive schedules to meet deadlines.
  • Lead and coordinate execution efforts in delivering systems and automated equipment designs per established standards and guidelines.
  • Simplify, optimize, and resolve complex system problems or technical deficiencies, providing feedback and driving continuous improvement.
  • Communicate project status, risk analysis, and risk mitigation plans effectively to leadership and management teams.
  • Articulate system and equipment designs, including layouts, technical specifications, and functional capabilities to internal customers and partner teams.
  • Manage change order controls, purchase orders, and invoice validation/approvals efficiently.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across multiple projects.
  • Identify and lead process improvement initiatives that improve Engineering and cross-teams' efficiencies, optimizing value and delivery.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other STEM field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Project Engineer, Process Engineer, Project Manager, Manufacturing Engineer, or related occupation.
  • Experience managing the lifecycle of cross-functional projects, implementing automated equipment and/or integrated systems.
  • Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, having the following qualifications can give you a competitive edge:

  • A Master's degree in Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or a related STEM field.
  • Operations Management/Distribution Center experience with direct management or responsibility for material handling, automation, or other technical projects.
  • Experience with Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project, Smartsheet programs.
  • Experience with design and/or implementation automation solutions, such as Conveyors, Sorters, high-speed manufacturing and packaging lines, Robotic work cells.
  • Proven technical leadership for industrial engineering projects or programs.

Compensation and Benefits

Our compensation package is competitive and reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $68,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $126,400/year in our highest geographic market. In addition to base pay, you may be eligible for equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation as part of a total compensation package. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, financial, and other benefits.
