About the Role

As an Operations Supervisor on our 3rd shift (9pm-5:30am, Mon-Fri), you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of our plant, driving results, and exceeding expectations in safety, service, quality, and cost. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you'll be responsible for supervising production employees, mentoring and coaching team members, and contributing to the overall profitability of the plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Supervision: Oversee production and shipping schedules, ensuring alignment with raw and finished goods availability. Provide hands-on leadership, mentoring, and coaching to all employees, addressing employee relations issues effectively.
  • Operational Efficiency: Support plant administration in maintaining compliance with established policies. Collaborate with the Plant Manager to drive cost and yield performance, supporting cost control initiatives and process control within the plant.
  • Safety and Compliance: Review operations activities to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local laws (OSHA, DOL, DOJ, EPA, FD). Drive safety improvements across the plant, striving for Zero Harm.
  • Process Excellence: Ensure consistent execution of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in accordance with the Plant Management System (PMS). Identify Lean opportunities to eliminate waste and drive efficiencies in asset utilization.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership to plant staff to effectively recruit, train, develop, evaluate, motivate, delegate, and monitor their activities. Foster a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Deliver best operational practices and cost efficiencies while maintaining critical quality and raw material utilization standards necessary for customer satisfaction and plant profitability.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations/Supply Chain or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a plant supervisory role in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong customer focus orientation and people management capability, including non-exempt production workforce.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering strong employee relations and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Experience managing safety performance and program, with an understanding of supply chain practices and metrics, and data analysis.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Lean & Six Sigma certification.
  • Familiarity with private fleet management/transportation.
  • Knowledge of Lean Thinking concepts and practices.
