Job Overview: Overprovisions Representative (Medical Billing)

As an Overprovisions Representative, you'll play a critical role in our medical billing operations, ensuring the accurate processing of credit balances, recoupments, adjustments, and unidentified payments for our Hospitalist and Clinic groups. This role requires a detail-oriented, organized, and communicative individual who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review guarantor, government payers, and commercial insurance overpayments to determine refund eligibility
• Create manual tasks in ETM for invoices with overpayments and follow up on outstanding tasks to resolution
• Assemble documentation to validate refunds and obtain senior approval
• Handle telephone inquiries and correspondence related to credit balances, following written procedures
• Process payment transfers and cancelled check research forms
• Contact insurance carriers and guarantors as necessary to resolve credit balances, offsets, and unidentified payments
• Identify and report consistent errors affecting account processing
• Participate in team meetings with the Overprovisions Supervisor to discuss key reports and trends
• Research unidentified invoices and reports to determine the appropriate application of payments
• Perform duties as directed by Senior Representative, Supervisor, and/or Manager

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

• A minimum high school diploma or equivalent
• At least one year of experience in medical billing
• Demonstrated success working in a team environment, meeting organization goals and objectives
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and follow through without direct supervision
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Zoom
• Strong organizational skills, maintaining accuracy and production

Preferred Qualifications:

While not required, the following qualifications can enhance your candidacy:

• Additional experience in medical billing or a related field
• Knowledge of healthcare administration and billing regulations
• Experience working with electronic health records (EHRs) and medical billing software
