Job Overview: Overprovisions Representative (Medical Billing)
As an Overprovisions Representative, you'll play a critical role in our medical billing operations, ensuring the accurate processing of credit balances, recoupments, adjustments, and unidentified payments for our Hospitalist and Clinic groups. This role requires a detail-oriented, organized, and communicative individual who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review guarantor, government payers, and commercial insurance overpayments to determine refund eligibility
- Create manual tasks in ETM for invoices with overpayments and follow up on outstanding tasks to resolution
- Assemble documentation to validate refunds and obtain senior approval
- Handle telephone inquiries and correspondence related to credit balances, following written procedures
- Process payment transfers and cancelled check research forms
- Contact insurance carriers and guarantors as necessary to resolve credit balances, offsets, and unidentified payments
- Identify and report consistent errors affecting account processing
- Participate in team meetings with the Overprovisions Supervisor to discuss key reports and trends
- Research unidentified invoices and reports to determine the appropriate application of payments
- Perform duties as directed by Senior Representative, Supervisor, and/or Manager
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- A minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- At least one year of experience in medical billing
- Demonstrated success working in a team environment, meeting organization goals and objectives
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and follow through without direct supervision
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Zoom
- Strong organizational skills, maintaining accuracy and production
Preferred Qualifications:
While not required, the following qualifications can enhance your candidacy:
- Additional experience in medical billing or a related field
- Knowledge of healthcare administration and billing regulations
- Experience working with electronic health records (EHRs) and medical billing software
