Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Regional Superintendent of Instruction to join our team. As a Regional Superintendent of Instruction, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our schools provide a world-class education to our students. You will be responsible for overseeing the academic performance of our schools, developing and implementing instructional strategies, and providing coaching and support to our principals and teachers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the academic program for a region of schools, including developing and implementing instructional strategies, managing budgets, and evaluating program effectiveness
  • Work closely with principals and teachers to develop and implement comprehensive plans to improve student achievement, including data-driven instruction, curriculum development, and professional development
  • Provide coaching and support to principals and teachers, including regular observations, feedback, and evaluations
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student outcomes, including increasing academic achievement, improving attendance and behavior, and reducing suspensions and expulsions
  • Collaborate with other regional superintendents, the regional superintendent of operations, and the home office to develop and implement regional projects and initiatives
  • Build relationships with local community leaders, organizations, and stakeholders to support the development of our schools and students
  • Participate in the development and implementation of organizational initiatives, including marketing strategies, employee recruitment drives, and professional development programs

Essential Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience as a principal or instructional leader in a high-performing urban public school
  • Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred in education, public policy, or a related field
  • Proven track record of improving student achievement and closing the achievement gap
  • Strong understanding of instructional design, curriculum development, and data-driven instruction
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and circumstances
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Uncommon Schools, including a passion for education, a commitment to diversity and inclusion, and a willingness to work in a collaborative and supportive environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of the Leverage Leadership Institute or a graduate degree from Relay GSE
  • Experience working in a charter school or public school district
  • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations, including IDEA and Section 504
  • Experience with data analysis and interpretation, including the use of data to inform instruction and drive decision-making
  • Strong understanding of school operations, including budgeting, facilities management, and human resources

  • Excellent communication and coaching skills, including the ability to provide regular feedback and support to principals and teachers
