About the Role
The AWS Organization Money and Information Move Information Designing group at blithequark provides a critical and unified data platform for AWS Money, supporting AWS Systems, AWS CloudFront, and AWS Direct Interface. Our team tackles some of the most challenging scalability, performance, and distributed computing problems, processing massive amounts of data and providing tools for clients to intuitively understand the extensive measures of data we store.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain data warehouse/data lake infrastructure using AWS big data stack, Python, Redshift, QuickSight, Glue/lake formation, EMR/Spark, Athena, etc.
 - Develop and manage ETLs to source data from various financial, AWS networking, and operational systems, creating a unified data model for analysis and reporting.
 - Create and support real-time data pipelines based on AWS technologies, including EMR, Glue, Redshift/RDS, and Athena.
 - Collaborate with other Engineering teams, Product/Financial Managers/Analysts to implement advanced analytics algorithms that leverage our rich datasets for financial model development, statistical analysis, prediction, etc.
 - Continuously explore the latest big data and visualization technologies to provide new capabilities and increase efficiency.
 - Use business intelligence and visualization software (e.g., QuickSight) to develop dashboards used by senior leadership.
 - Enable technical and non-technical internal users to drive their own analysis and reporting (self-serve reporting) and support ad-hoc reporting when required.
 - Work closely with colleagues to drive continuous model implementations for monitoring and warning of risk systems.
 - Manage multiple requests simultaneously and decisively, prioritizing when necessary.
 - Partner/collaborate across teams/roles to deliver results.
 - Mentor other architects, positively influence team culture, and help grow the team.
 
Requirements and Qualifications
Essential Capabilities:
- 3+ years of data engineering experience.
 - Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
 - Experience with SQL.
 - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Analytics, Math, Statistics, IT, or similar.
 - Experience designing and developing data engineering systems from scratch and maintaining/supporting existing systems.
 - Experience managing large and complex datasets and performance tuning.
 - Proficiency in one of the scripting languages - Python, Ruby, or similar.
 - Experience working with large data warehouses or data lakes.
 - Experience designing data models that support structured and unstructured data.
 - Experience gathering requirements and designing business metrics for reporting.
 - Ability to manage ambiguities and competing needs.
 
Preferred Capabilities:
- Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions.
 - Experience with non-relational databases/data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases).
 - Graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, IT, or similar.
 - Related experience in programming using Python.

Our compensation reflects the cost of work across several US geographic markets. The base salary for this position ranges from $35-40 per year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,600 per year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on various factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. blithequark is a total pay company. Depending on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other types of pay might be provided as part of a complete pay package, in addition to a full range of clinical, financial, and other benefits.
