Our Focus Areas

Database Access Platform

The Database Access Platform team builds and operates a flexible query gateway that works with data abstractions to achieve sub-millisecond latencies while allowing Blithequark microservices to store, consume, and manage their data more efficiently. This team holds significant responsibility in enabling Blithequark microservices to meet their growing and evolving data needs.

• Design and develop scalable and high-performance database access platforms

Data Platform Infrastructure

The Data Platform Infrastructure team serves as a platform for our own data platforms. Our shared infrastructure and tooling enable Blithequark to rapidly enhance and provide cutting-edge data and analytics systems to the rest of the organization without building tailor-made platforms for each new system.

• Design and implement high-impact infrastructure, control, and deployment systems
• Develop and maintain large-scale data processing and analytics systems
• Collaborate with engineers and product managers to ensure alignment with business objectives

Data Development and Processing

The Data Development and Processing team offers a self-service cleared way product to enable varied client personas across Blithequark to meet their low-latency data development and processing needs. We invest in functional automation, reliability, and tools for predictable data quality.

• Design and develop scalable data processing and analytics systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with existing systems
• Contribute to open-source communities and shape the future of data infrastructure

Big Data Compute

The Big Data Compute team is responsible for providing the cloud-native platform for distributed data processing at Blithequark. This team is critical to batch data processing in Data Platform.

• Design and develop scalable and high-performance big data compute systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with existing systems
• Contribute to open-source communities and shape the future of data infrastructure

Big Data Orchestration

The Big Data Orchestration team offers the platform for scheduling, organizing, and executing big data jobs and workflows in a self-serve way.

• Design and develop scalable and high-performance big data orchestration systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with existing systems
• Contribute to open-source communities and shape the future of data infrastructure

Responsibilities

• Settle genuine business needs at large scale by applying programming and scientific critical thinking abilities
• Architect and build robust, scalable, and highly available distributed infrastructure
• Drive cross-functional initiatives and collaborate with engineers, product managers, and TPM across teams
• Contribute to open-source communities and shape the future of data infrastructure

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience building large-scale distributed systems or applications
• Proficiency in designing and developing RESTful web services
• Experience building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, and distributed systems
• Proficiency in Java or other object-oriented programming languages
• Comfortable with multi-threading and concurrent programming
• BS in Computer Science or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with distributed systems technologies such as Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, and Apache Druid
• Knowledge of cloud-native technologies such as AWS or GCP
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Strong understanding of data infrastructure and data processing principles
