Position Overview

As a DHH Teacher with The Stepping Stones Group, you will have the opportunity to work in a school-based setting, providing high-quality education to students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Provide instruction and support to students in a variety of subjects, including language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies
  • Use American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication strategies to engage with students and promote language development
  • Collaborate with other educators and professionals to ensure a comprehensive and supportive learning environment
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet the unique needs of each student
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in deaf education

Qualifications and Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Graduate from a teaching program with a focus on deaf and hard of hearing education
  • Current license as a DHH Teacher in the state of South Carolina
  • Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a school-based setting
  • Strong knowledge of ASL and other communication strategies used in deaf education
  • Excellent instructional and assessment skills, with the ability to adapt to the unique needs of each student
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with other educators and professionals

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Master's degree in deaf and hard of hearing education or a related field
  • Experience with curriculum development and implementation
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and other tools used to support students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate in ASL and other languages
