Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the Medical Assisting Instructor is to provide active and effective learning experiences for students in various educational settings, including classrooms, labs, clinical settings, and online platforms. Instructional Duties
- Instruct classes as assigned, utilizing a range of teaching methods and materials to engage students and promote learning
 - Prepare for classes by organizing and familiarizing yourself with student materials, lesson plans, and course content
 - Objectively assess student performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance to support academic success
 - Effectively utilize instructional plans, supplementing approved student materials as required to enhance the learning experience
 - Ensure the security of assessment tools and confidential documentation, maintaining the integrity of the educational process
 - Utilize and monitor learning management systems to track student progress and facilitate communication
 - Conduct classes for the required length of time, maintaining a professional and respectful learning environment
 
Student Interaction
- Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning, setting the example for professionalism and conduct
 - Provide regular and constructive feedback to students regarding academic performance, grades, professionalism, conduct, attendance, and other relevant topics
 - Proactively inform the Program Director of any student attendance, academic, or behavioral concerns, supporting retention management efforts
 - Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, grades, and attendance, ensuring compliance with published policies
 - Facilitate tutoring and makeup work as needed, ensuring student participation and supporting academic success
 - Refer students to the Program Director and/or Academic Dean for additional advising or support as necessary
 
Related Duties
- Record keeping, scanning, and other administrative tasks as required
 - Stay informed of current standards and best practices in instructional methodology, participating in ongoing faculty and professional development activities
 - Attend workshops, seminars, and conferences to improve instructional and professional skills, maintaining certification and licensure as required
 - Participate in campus events, including orientations, staff meetings, faculty meetings, and graduation ceremonies
 - Assist with inventory, organization, and ordering of supplies and classroom materials, maintaining a neat and orderly learning environment
 - Report any non-functioning equipment to the Program Director or Academic Dean, ensuring the smooth operation of educational activities
 
Essential Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, plus a certificate of completion from a postsecondary institution in a relevant subject area (COE, TN)
 - Minimum of three years of practical experience in the last seven years in the subject area to be taught (TN)
 - Previous teaching experience strongly desired, with a proven track record of directing and evaluating student learning and lab performance
 - Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and motivate students
 - Experience in phlebotomy, immunizations, venipuncture, injections, pharmacology, EKG, wound care, GYN procedures, and vital signs
 - Proficiency in dosage calculations, documentation, computer skills, administrative competency, EHR (electronic health records), and practice management knowledge helpful
 
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a relevant field, such as medical assisting, healthcare education, or a related discipline
 - Certification or licensure in medical assisting, with a strong understanding of industry standards and best practices
 - Experience with learning management systems, instructional technology, and online education platforms
 - Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to motivate and support students in achieving their academic and professional goals
