Job Overview and Responsibilities
In this critical role, you will provide expert technical writing, editing, and strategic communications support to our government clients, with a focus on Operational Energy. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing and editing operations, education, and training materials, including documents, reports, manuscripts, teaching materials, and books that support work across the energy domain, including operational and installation energy
 - Collaborating with government and selected authors and writers to improve the content of selected material and documents
 - Providing inputs to government customers on how to improve current and future written material, including sharing best writing practices
 - Identifying ways to improve document content, presentation, and flow, and advising clients on necessary changes
 - Preparing and editing NPS training and education material, including an Energy textbook, to educate military members and senior leaders on operational and installation energy
 - Addressing environmental issues associated with energy in written operational, education, and training materials
 
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 10 years of experience in journalism and/or editing
 - A Bachelor's Degree in writing, telecommunications, or a related field
 - Ability to focus in detail and edit written materials with a high level of accuracy
 - In-depth knowledge of grammar and military writing styles, as well as academic writing styles
 - Strong writing skills and the ability to manage timeliness and meet deadlines
 
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
While not required, the following qualifications and skills are highly desirable:
- Military background and experience working with government agencies
 - Strong writing and proofreading skills, with the ability to give constructive feedback
 - Experience with content management systems and computer expertise
 - Great attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills
 - Conceptual creative abilities and the ability to coordinate online or print publishing cycles and manage content areas
