Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Paraprofessional, Instructional Aide to join our team at Liberty Elementary School. As a Paraprofessional, Instructional Aide, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and personal growth of students with special needs in a self-contained classroom setting. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the teacher in planning, preparing, and implementing instructional activities and materials to meet the diverse needs of students with special needs
  • Provide individualized support and accommodations to students, including academic, behavioral, and emotional support
  • Develop and maintain a positive and respectful learning environment that promotes social, emotional, and academic growth
  • Collaborate with the teacher and other support staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and behavioral intervention plans
  • Assist with classroom management, organization, and maintenance of a safe and healthy learning environment
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a comprehensive and supportive approach to education
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in supporting students with special needs

Essential Qualifications

  • A paraprofessional license (Educational Aide Permit) with an ESEA Qualified endorsement through the Ohio Department of Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • Experience working with students with special needs, preferably in a self-contained classroom setting
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and maintain confidentiality
  • Physical ability to lift, move, and restrain students as needed, with or without reasonable accommodation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with behavioral intervention strategies and techniques
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive equipment
  • Training in crisis intervention and prevention, such as CPI or similar
  • Fluency in a second language, preferably Spanish
  • Experience with data collection, progress monitoring, and reporting

  • Strong understanding of special education principles, practices, and laws
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary package, commensurate with experience, ranging from $14.98 to $15.99 per hour, plus an additional $0.50 per hour when assigned to preschool and/or intensive needs. Our benefits include:
