About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team in Grants Pass, OR. As a SPED Teacher with The Stepping Stones Group, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, surrounded by responsive and supportive clinical leaders. You will be responsible for providing high-quality educational services to children with special needs, using your skills and expertise to develop and implement individualized education plans that meet the unique needs of each student.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs
- Provide high-quality educational services to children with special needs, including instruction, assessment, and progress monitoring
- Collaborate with other educators, therapists, and support staff to ensure a comprehensive and integrated approach to education
- Use a variety of teaching methods and strategies to engage students and promote learning
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on student progress and involving them in the educational process
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices and research-based strategies in special education
Qualifications and Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong foundation in special education, as well as excellent teaching and communication skills. The following qualifications and requirements are essential:
- Graduate from a teaching program with a specialization in special education
- Current license as a Special Education Teacher in OR
- School experience preferred, but not required
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices
- Excellent teaching, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the essential qualifications and requirements, the following preferred qualifications will be considered an asset:
- Experience working with children with autism, emotional/behavioral disorders, or other special needs
- Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies and technologies
- Experience with positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS)
- Strong technology skills, including experience with educational software and hardware
