About the Role: RN Clinical Data Abstractor - Quality Outcomes
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team as a Clinical Data Abstractor - Quality Outcomes. As a remote employee, you will play a critical role in supporting our quality assessment and performance improvement program, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your clinical expertise and analytical skills to drive quality improvement initiatives and make a meaningful impact on patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Data Abstraction: Abstract and audit clinical case records, data, or other information within established deadlines, applying clinical training, knowledge, and experience to review complex clinical information.
- Data Management: Enter abstracted data into registries or third-party vendor software, ensuring accuracy and integrity of reported data.
- Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement: Conduct audits and identify potential areas of concern, interpreting trends and developing reports to display variances from established standards of care.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work with providers, clinical value improvement caregivers, and leadership to interpret data trends, share findings, and drive quality improvement initiatives.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Create case finding or internal audit reports, and participate in teleconferences, webinars, and onsite educational opportunities to share knowledge and best practices.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Education:
- Associate Degree in Nursing: Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing: Preferred
Experience:
- Clinical Experience: Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in an acute care hospital, with preferred experience in surgery, inpatient care, and emergency services.
- Care Management Experience: Care management and/or hospital insurance case management experience may be substituted for clinical experience.
Credentials:
- Registered Nurse: Required
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality: Preferred
Skills and Competencies:
- Advanced Knowledge: Medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and understanding of disease processes, pharmaceuticals, and diagnostic studies.
- Analytical and Organizational Skills: Strong organization, analysis, software aptitude, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Technical Skills: Proficient skills in database management, spreadsheets, word processing, graphs, and presentations, with MS Office applications.
