Job Overview

As a Senior Specialist Outside Plant Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in planning, designing, and analyzing network components, infrastructure, and architecture to support and execute against our strategic technology goals. This includes both Wireline and Wireless components, with a focus on providing short- and long-term planning for access network technologies. You will be responsible for evaluating network capacity and performance criteria, developing and implementing strategies to accommodate network growth and change, and creating deliverables such as Plans of Record, Forecasts, Serving Plans, Use Permits, Cost Estimates, Handoffs, Workprints, and Utility Agreements.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Recommends strategic network planning and network evolution policy decisions, both in and out of franchise, in support of corporate initiatives, customer demand, technology changes, economic and service reliability criteria.
• Evaluates network capacity and performance criteria and develops and implements strategies to accommodate network growth and change.
• Creates deliverables such as Plans of Record, Forecasts, Serving Plans, Use Permits, Cost Estimates, Handoffs, Workprints, and Utility Agreements.
• Provides technical leadership and expertise in the design and development of outside plant networks, including fiber optic and copper infrastructure.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and construction, to ensure successful project execution and network deployment.
• Stays up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices, applying this knowledge to improve network design and deployment processes.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A Bachelor's degree in Math, Science, or Engineering (preferred).
• Typically, 3-5 years of experience in a related field, with a strong understanding of outside plant design principles, network architecture, and telecommunications technologies.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering design tools, databases, and software applications.
• Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
