We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join our team, focusing on producing Real-World Evidence (RWE) via superior analytics and progressive processes inside the medical trials space. As a Data Scientist at blithequark, you will be a fundamental part of the Scientific Affairs group, driving internal and external decision-making through the application of advanced data technology and era.

Job Responsibilities

In this role, you will conduct state-of-the-art data analysis to assist in addressing critical business questions. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Converting raw data sets into standardized, evaluation-ready patient cohorts from in-house data assets or certified systems, examining and interpreting results, and assisting in shaping analytics strategy
  • Partnering with other members of the blithequark Clinical Trial team to provide actionable insights from real-world, clinical, and other data assets to support biopharmaceutical RWE and clinical trial requests
  • Cleaning, transforming, and storing data into an integrated data lake for future analysis and broader team consumption
  • Performing data mining and statistical analysis to investigate RWE/RWD to locate new insights concerning patient populations and treatment outcomes
  • Supporting the development of real-world data, analytics, and platform capabilities, applying advanced analytics and tools to address clinical questions from biopharmaceutical companies
  • Collaborating on the design and execution of outcomes research studies
  • Ensuring high-quality, rigorous, and interpretable deliverables from RWE research and analyses
  • Building dashboards, analytics, and reports for internal and external consumption
  • Conducting due diligence on new real-world data vendors and powering RWD quality tests to inform investment decisions

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree or graduate degree and a minimum of 4 years of experience in a quantitative or computational role
  • At least 4 years of experience in R, Python, or SQL
  • Experience in designing and executing strong and reproducible statistical analyses within the context of epidemiology and observational studies with healthcare data
  • Knowledge of common statistical testing methods, including generalized linear models, class and discrimination, decision trees, unsupervised learning, time series analysis, and survival analysis
  • Experience processing large data from diverse data sources
  • Experience handling protected patient health information
  • Knowledge of at least one of the following: Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, or other BI intelligence tools

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have:

  • A Ph.D. or Master's degree in statistics/biostatistics, computer science, mathematics, systems engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field
  • Expertise in EMR/Health IT, disease registries, and insurance claims databases
  • Expertise in clinical data standards, clinical terminologies, and managed vocabularies used in healthcare data and ontologies (ICD9/10/ReadCode)
  • Experience in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and/or regulatory compliance guidelines for real-world evidence research or clinical trials (e.g., ISO, MDD/MDR, CFR)
  • Experience working on alternative data sources and alternative methods of clinical data collection, particularly those enabled by technology systems and/or solutions
  • Experience with experimental design, Bayesian modeling, sequential data, computational statistics
  • Understanding of machine learning and systems learning techniques, ability to maintain self-learning of technical and non-technical skills
