Job Overview

The Technical Support Specialist role at blithequark is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about troubleshooting, technical support, and customer service. Key Responsibilities

  • Efficient setup and configuration of software programs, as well as troubleshooting and repair of malfunctioning software in a Linux and Windows environment.
  • Manage end-user expectations and system troubles using technical and customer service skills.
  • Control the fundamentals of IT security protocol (account management, etc.).
  • In affiliation with manufacturing engineers, set up and configure software, as well as troubleshoot and restore malfunctioning software in the computer environment.
  • Administer mail structures, device installation and configuration, printing structures, and setup of third-party software.
  • Setup and improve computer systems in a networked environment with minimal end-user interruption.
  • Properly integrate devices, including printers, scanners, and digitizing tablets, with Linux, Macintosh, and Windows systems.
  • Analyze current strategies, identify areas for improvement, and recommend viable solutions.
  • Actively participate in ongoing process introduction, improvement discussions, and projects in both an individual and team setting.
  • Manage break-fix expectations with staff and effectively communicate changes accordingly.
  • Research and recommend hardware and software solutions as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and repair, or arrange for repair of defective computer equipment.
  • Effectively communicate the status of issues and projects in progress to concerned parties on a timely basis.
  • Identify and recommend solutions to technical problems as needed.
  • Document and communicate machine guide issues with end-users, IT team members, and management.
  • Carry out special projects as needed.

Essential and Preferred Qualifications

To be a contributing member of our team, you will have a combination of the following skills and qualifications:

  • Degree or Bachelor's degree in Computer Technology or equivalent, or years of desktop support experience in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Excellent understanding of technology and the role of the customer in relation to the larger IT infrastructure.
  • Strong skills in Linux operating systems (CentOS specifically), with command line experience required and remote control and scripting experience beneficial.
  • Windows 7 or 10 operating systems experience is a plus.
  • Experience supporting 3D artists and software developers or working in a creative environment is a plus.
  • Able to communicate in a professional and pleasant way with co-workers.
  • Superb technical, verbal, and written skills.
  • Self-starter, proactive, strong organizational skills, and ability to prioritize workload.
  • Team player who strives to maximize team/department performance.
  • Detail-oriented and able to handle a variety of duties in an efficient manner.
  • Able to manage time effectively, triage, and prioritize based on production needs.
  • Able to lift 22kgs on a regular basis.
  • Must be willing to participate in a rotating on-call schedule.
