Eligibility and Qualifications

To be considered for a position within SSA under the Veterans Recruitment Act (VRA) hiring authority, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:

• You are a disabled veteran, or a veteran who served in active duty in the Armed Forces during a war, or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized.
• You are a veteran who, while serving on active duty in the armed forces, participated in a United States military operation for which an Armed Forces Service Medal was awarded.
• You are a recently separated veteran (within 3 years).
• You were separated from the Armed Forces under honorable or general discharge.
