Job Summary/Overview
We are seeking an experienced Staff Data Product Owner to join our team on a contract basis (6+ months) in a remote capacity, working with clients in the PST time zone. As a Staff Data Product Owner, you will serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and data engineering teams, driving business growth through data-driven insights and strategic decision making. Your primary responsibilities will include requirement gathering, analysis, and converting business requirements into technical requirements for the data engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, document, and manage business conceptual data artifacts, such as conceptual models, critical data element inventory, and define data based on business usage.
 - Manage data requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation processes to capture business needs.
 - Understand and analyze business process efforts that involve data intake, manipulation through business rules, and data output.
 - Develop Business Requirement Documents (BRD) / Product Requirement Documents (PRD) and JIRA stories for the data engineering team.
 - Manage multiple requirements gathering efforts simultaneously and assimilate them into cohesive end-to-end data requirements.
 - Communicate effectively with business partners to inform and influence strategic data direction decisions.
 - Promote data governance and architecture, ensuring alignment with enterprise data policies, standards, and practices.
 - Serve as a liaison between business and functional areas and technology teams to ensure data-related business requirements are met.
 - Assist the governance team in capturing metrics that provide insights into data analysis and requirements effectiveness.
 - Rationalize and coordinate external data sources to eliminate redundancy and streamline expenses.
 - Identify and aggregate internal and external data sources, coordinating with data owners/stewards to ensure data accessibility and quality.
 
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a major services organization, with large-scale data management efforts and oversight experience.
 - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the organization.
 - Experience in unstructured data processing, cataloging, indexing, and storing.
 - Knowledge of cloud data platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
 - Familiarity with Large Language Models and AI/ML.
 - Understanding of distributed microservice architecture and web services.
 - Experience with Agile practices, including JIRA story writing.
 - Knowledge of industry-leading data analysis and requirements practices.
 - Understanding of data governance practices, business, and technology issues related to enterprise information assets.
 - A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace.
 - Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, continually changing business environment while managing multiple priorities.
 
Preferred qualifications include experience or knowledge of CRM systems like Salesforce, Informatica Tools (IICS, EDC, Axon, and DPM), and relevant certifications in product management, machine learning, data science, or related disciplines.
Education and Training
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical degree is preferred. Relevant certifications and training programs can be a plus.
