SWCA Environmental Consultants, an employee-owned company of environmental professionals, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Level Biologist - Construction Coordinator to join our Natural Resources Program in our Pasadena, CA office. This is a flexible hourly temporary position that can be worked remotely, with the potential to work up to 30-40 hours per week depending on workload.

The Role: Staff Level Biologist - Construction Coordinator

This role is a critical component of our Natural Resources Program, and the successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating construction efforts, reviewing and summarizing biological information, and preparing biologists for field work. The Staff Level Biologist - Construction Coordinator will work on a variety of projects across southern and central California, including nesting bird surveys, rare species surveys, and construction monitoring efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and summarize information about small to large-scale biological efforts, including nesting bird surveys, rare species surveys, and construction monitoring efforts, across southern and central California.
  • Prepare biologists for field work by communicating location information, project requirements, construction measures, and safety issues.
  • Review and update internal tracking databases and spreadsheets to ensure accurate and timely project data.
  • Keep track of schedules and due dates on a daily basis for multiple projects, demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in biology, environmental science, or a closely related field.
  • Up to 2 years of relevant experience, with a preference for experience in utility on-call support and utility construction practices.
  • Experience working in a consulting firm or utility practice is preferred.
  • Strong data management and progress tracking skills, with the ability to review and update internal tracking databases and spreadsheets.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to biologists and other stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with utility on-call support and utility construction practices.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to review and summarize complex biological information.

Compensation and Benefits:

The hourly pay rate for this role will be based on individual qualifications and experience, with a range of $25.88-$33.75 per hour for a Staff Biologist.
