About the Student Nurse Extern (SNE) Role
The Student Nurse Extern (SNE) plays a vital role in our healthcare team, assisting in the provision of patient care across various age groups under the direction of Registered Nurses and Organizational Leadership. This position is available in our remote office, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere while being part of a dynamic team dedicated to delivering high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with measures of comfort and activities of daily living, including bathing, feeding, toileting, dressing, and grooming.
 - Support patients with mobility by performing active and passive range of motion, lifting, turning, repositioning, ambulation, and transportation.
 - Perform routine patient care tasks as delegated by Registered Nurses, such as obtaining specimens, recording vital signs, applying ice/heat/compress/dressings, intake/output, point of care testing, 12-lead EKG, and reapplying monitors.
 - Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure prompt attention to patient and departmental needs.
 - Participate in the process of admitting, transferring, and discharging patients, including notifying appropriate individuals and departments, assembling patient charts, and performing environmental orientation.
 - Provide clerical support, including answering phones/call lights, obtaining and stocking supplies, and managing patient equipment.
 - Document pertinent patient information and services provided accurately.
 - Troubleshoot issues and concerns, working collaboratively with others to resolve them.
 - Participate in hand-off/report of pertinent information regarding patient and departmental needs.
 
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you must be currently enrolled in a professional school of nursing and have successfully completed one clinical nursing course and one clinical experience, or be within 90 days post-graduation. Additionally, you must be CPR certified and maintain competency in required clinical skills.
