Job Overview
As a Reliability Engineer for Tesla's Dojo supercomputer, you will play a critical role in designing reliability into the low voltage electronic systems of Dojo. You will be responsible for following the reliability lifecycle of the product from concept to design, development, manufacturing, field operation, and design in, to ensure that our high reliability standards are met. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional engineering teams to approve our heavy equipment and ensure that our reliability standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with and lead design FMEA meetings to review product risks, determine validation test plans, and drive robust design decisions
 - Analyze field use and environmental conditions to enhance requirement setting and test strategies
 - Apply strong knowledge of reliability methodologies and low voltage systems to design accelerated test plans for design validation and demonstration of reliability growth
 - Work with failure analysis to identify root cause and drive resolution for failures originating in testing and in the field
 - Collaborate with manufacturing quality, service engineering, supplier quality, and design teams to facilitate field failure resolution
 - Provide reliability design guidelines and apply reliability lessons learned to enable continuous improvement
 
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in reliability engineering, with a deep understanding of low voltage electronics and expertise in creating related characterization/validation testing techniques. You will also need to have experience with PCB board-level design, including the ability to read and communicate PCBA schematics.
Essential Qualifications
- Relevant internship or academic lab work experience
 - In-depth understanding of low voltage electronics and expertise in creating related characterization/validation testing techniques
 - PCB board-level experience with the ability to read and communicate PCBA schematics
 - Master's or PhD degree in Reliability Engineering, or ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer
 - Knowledge of the ReliaSoft BlockSim, including Weibull++, BlockSim, ALTA, RGA, and reliability growth methodologies such as Crow-AMSAA and Crow Extended
 - Knowledge of reliability warranty analysis and reliability prediction methodologies
 - Understanding of fleet reliability monitoring metrics and reliability KPIs
 - Knowledge of database structures and functional understanding and use of SQL, with experience working with large datasets and experience with Tableau for large data analysis
 - Working knowledge of applied statistics and experience with statistical software like JMP, Minitab, etc.
 - Working knowledge of failure analysis procedures like optical microscopy, SEM, CSAM, X-ray, cross-section, and EDX
 - Strong problem-solving skills and comprehensive understanding of complex electrical test arrangements
 
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with large datasets and experience with data analysis tools like Tableau
 - Knowledge of programming languages like Python, C++, or Java
 - Experience with reliability engineering tools like ReliaSoft, ALTA, or RGA
 - Certification in reliability engineering or a related field
