Job Overview: Billing Specialist Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Billing Specialist to join our team. As a Billing Specialist, you will play a critical role in optimizing revenue and maximizing control procedures at our assigned practice. Your expertise in billing and revenue cycle management will be essential in driving success in this position. Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain current expert knowledge in billing and revenue cycle management to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.
  • Audit performance metrics for Revenue Cycle Billing to assure that performance meets expectations and identify areas for improvement.
  • Report regularly with the Reimbursement Manager on any revenue cycle issues and provide input from audits to optimize revenue and control procedures.
  • Review all claims for completeness before submitting to coding to ensure accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Attend monthly Revenue Cycle meetings to review any revenue cycle issues and collaborate with the team to resolve them.
  • Act as the practice management system super-user for patient accounts/ledger information and provide updates to the Reimbursement Manager on outstanding issues for billing purposes.

Essential Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • Additional education, coursework, or certification in medical office billing and/or coding (specific to the designated specialty) is highly desirable.
  • 2-3 years of experience in medical office billing and revenue cycle management, with a demonstrated track record of high attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to provide instruction and education to staff members.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in business management or a related field is highly preferred, or an appropriate mix of education and experience.
  • Previous experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably in a billing or revenue cycle management role.
  • Certification in medical office billing and/or coding, such as CPC or CPB, is a plus.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff members, providers, and patients.
