Be a part of something bigger. We're looking for a Co-op, Flight Operations – Operations Support, Technology & Business Strategy to join our team at Delta Air Lines! This role is located at our Remote facility, with the opportunity to work at our World Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. As a Co-op, you will be part of the Operations Support, Technology & Business Strategy department, working closely with the Project Development Office (PDO) to drive business process improvements and support technology solutions.

Operations Support, Technology & Business Strategy Department

The Operations Support, Technology & Business Strategy department plays a critical role in advancing technology applications and initiatives to drive the division's mission. The team evaluates current work processes to identify and recommend business opportunities and supports technology solutions that align with senior leadership's strategy to continuously improve the line pilot experience.

The Project Development Office (PDO)

Within the Operations Support, Technology & Business Strategy department, the Co-Op team works within the Project Development Office (PDO) with two full-time employees. The PDO helps Flight Ops stakeholders navigate the technology development process, including a defined agile ecosystem for intake, approval, maturation, and execution. As a Co-op, you will work as a Business Analyst-type role, partnering with multiple divisional stakeholders to define business/process improvement opportunities and assist with the development and maturation of recommended solutions.

Co-op Job Summary

The Co-op will work at Delta's World Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, with a hybrid schedule (i.e., in-person for 4 days on campus with one day each week working virtually). This is a paid position, including additional privileges such as standby travel anywhere in the Delta system while off duty. The Co-op will have exposure to other departments within Flight Operations, including but not limited to: Flight Training & Standards, Flying Operations, Line Operations, Crew Resources & Scheduling, Pilot Hiring & Development, and Simulator Support to learn about the industry and gain valuable life experience.

The position requires three alternating semesters of full-time work at Delta with full-time study (1 semester can be summer). We are seeking qualified, motivated individuals looking for an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build a career in the aviation industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in team activities that aim to holistically develop Co-Ops
  • Partner with multiple divisional stakeholders in a Business Analyst role to define business/process improvement opportunities, assist with the development and maturation of recommended solutions, and implement initiative tracking methodologies
  • Support Delta's global innovation initiative through applications of creative design concepts to evolve stakeholder approaches to problem and solution design
  • Develop and implement feedback analysis using basic survey and statistics methodologies
  • Support project leaders on technology programs with external vendors and Information Technology teams to identify and troubleshoot issues, develop solutions, and implement resolutions in a timely manner to minimize impact to the operation
  • Think, design, and create innovative solutions to support project teams in improving the pilot work experience

What You Need To Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business Administration (Information Technology Management), Aviation Management, or Industrial Engineering (or similar degree with applicable skills)
  • Team player that fosters trust, open dialogue, and healthy conflict with coworkers
  • Strong interpersonal skills and servant leadership required to promote intentional relationships
  • Preferably a rising Sophomore or rising Junior, as you are required to work 3 terms
  • Strong organizational and time management skills required
  • Internally motivated, curious, ready to learn, and eager to make an impact
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and time constraints while being able to manage and prioritize multiple project requests conjointly
  • Project Management experience is a plus (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
  • Experience with business cases, process mapping, and database management is a plus
  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data
  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the aviation industry or a related field
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and project management tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
