Job Summary

As a College Essay Coach at Workwarp, you'll work one-on-one with high school students to guide them through the college application essay writing process. From brainstorming and drafting to revising and editing, you'll provide personalized support and expert feedback to help students produce outstanding essays. Key Responsibilities

  • One-on-One Coaching: Work closely with students to brainstorm, draft, revise, and edit college application essays, ensuring they meet the requirements and showcase their unique strengths.
  • Remote Editing: Utilize our Google Docs-based editing software to provide detailed feedback and suggestions on student essays, promoting clarity, coherence, and overall quality.
  • University Research: Help students investigate universities that align with their academic, career, and social interests, fostering a deeper understanding of their options.
  • Progress Tracking: Monitor and facilitate students' progress towards completing their college application essays, ensuring they meet submission deadlines.
  • Small Group Workshops: Design and lead workshops to help students understand specific types of college application essays or writing techniques, promoting peer-to-peer learning and collaboration.
  • Student Management: Work with a small group of students as they write and revise their college application essays, providing guidance, support, and constructive feedback.

Essential Qualifications

  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience working with middle school, high school, and/or college students, particularly in language arts and/or writing.
  • Education: A Bachelor's Degree or higher in English, Education, or a related field.
  • Communication Skills: Impeccable written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, concise, and constructive feedback.
  • Technical Skills: Mastery of G Suite products, including Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
  • Availability: Ability to work approximately 5 hours/week during spring, summer, and fall seasons.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching Experience: Experience teaching English, language arts, or writing in a classroom setting.
  • Coaching Experience: Experience coaching or mentoring students in a one-on-one or small group setting.
  • College Counseling Experience: Experience working in college counseling or advising.
